Focal Point Domes
Originally used as decoration prior to the age of electricity, they collected smoke from gasoliers, protecting the ceiling from soot.  Domes allow personal creativity - use a dome instead of a trey ceiling, and increase the visual height of your room.  Found often in entryways, over dining room tables or in retail stores such as Victoria's Secret, domes, made of a fiberglass and polyester material, are available with Class A fire rating for commercial projects.

Installation Ideas
  • Use a dome to raise the ceiling height; a higher ceiling allows for a more dramatic light fixture
  • Try a dome instead of a trey ceiling, and save on overall installation
  • Use the Wesley Rimless Dome and apply any of the rims shown below to create an opportunity for recessed lighting
  • Use the Sanford or Hopkins Dome where a standard ceiling depth exists
  • Design a custom portico, using domes and mouldings
  • Use an elliptical dome over a long dining room or conference room table

The Sanford and Hopkins domes shown below provide the opportunity to use a dome without major construction changes.  Both domes fit the depth of standard ceilings and offer the intricate designs found in our mouldings and medallions.  Made of a high density polymer, these domes often appear in entryways, hallways and dining rooms.

Combine a medallion and decorative rim to create the custom look - without the custom price.   Or, use medallions, casings and rims in combinations to create a Victorian decorative ceiling.
